In this video from Our LANDing Crew, Stephanie gives parents of autistic toddlers and children tips for potty training. She draws on her experience with her son Noah, who is day-time potty trained only at this point (they are working on night-time potty training).
One major tip Stephanie gives is to limit fluid intake 2 hours before bedtime. Visual aids and simple communication are very helpful for parents to teach proper toilet usage, and positive reinforcement is very important when a child successfully uses the bathroom. Additionally, patience is incredibly important for parents whose children struggle with using the bathroom, as it takes a lot of time and practice for some kids to be fully potty trained.
