Lorraine Kelly interviews journalist Laura James, who was diagnosed with autism when she was 45 years old, and in the hospital for an unrelated connective tissue health issue. In this video, Laura shares how her diagnosis – “a light bulb moment” – came to pass, including her lifelong history with sensory issues, rigidity of plans, childhood and teenage perceptions, communication, and some of the other usual challenges of autism.
A wife and mother of four at the time of her diagnosis, Laura also talks about how her family adapted to her newfound diagnosis, and gives words of support to undiagnosed adults, including women.
