Second Look – Adults with Autism

Susan Mayes, Ph.D., professor at Penn State College of Medicine narrates this video which includes expert opinions, and interviews with autistic adults who talk about personal experiences while providing examples of some of the challenges of autism including the ups and downs of fitting in.

Social environments, services, bullying, adapting to new skills, employment, job training, accommodations, life skills, independent and supported living are discussed including assumptions often attributed to people with autism.

It’s always important to listen to and hear about autism directly from those who experience it. Parent perspectives, also important, are explored in the interviews as well.
